Fire Building Checklist



1. Fire Starters

Waterproof Matches
Fire Starters – trick candles, dryer lint, Vaseline, sap
Stick & String

2. Safety Rules

Shovel, Water, Fire Extinguisher
Always attend to the fire
No loose Clothing/Blankets
Don’t just dump items into the fire

3. Types of Fires

A – Frame = start fires in the wind
Log Cabin/Criss Cross = Cooking
Tepee = short cooking
Trench/Hunter = pot cooking

4. Hold hand over coals to temperature

5. Putting out fire

6. Fireman chip – must have card to start and attend to fire

7. Safe Sites

8. Light a match and lighter

I have been married for 20 years and have 3 children. My oldest is 20 and currently in the National Guard. My daughters are 15 and 11 and involved in everything.
